we dig deep into trax s vaults to unearth some unreleased super rare versions of some trax classics. vol. 1 contains two ron hardy reel to reel edit s of jamie principle & frankie knuckles classics -bad boy- and -baby wants to ride-. very different to the final released versions these are personal edits ron made to play at the music box, chicago in the mid-late 80 s. released in conjunction with trax 2015.

phooka releases two tracks on love blast records: an intense techno ep focused on dark ambient drones and bassline. -armspin- was made for the dancefloor, mental groove and an insistent rhythm. -floating drops- is a more experimental vision of what techno could be, with big kick, breakbeat and deep aggressive synths. -throwing technques- is a glimpse into the techno genre, coming as limited 12s-­sided, first 100 silkscreened on one side.

up first is gigolo, a spare and weird house cut with sine waves and random claps, hunched drums and trippy synth lines. it s a unique track made in a unique way and will lead to plenty of freaky dance floor moments, for sure. co. art is a whacked out techno cut with slap-funk claps, blistering and blistered synth lines and a rugged bit of bass underlining it all. the track is cavernous and metallic, empty and distant as if it somehow survived a nuclear blast. on the flip, alzheimer is a slow and gurgling, swampy techno number with broken drums and crawling synths that sound like their batteries have run down. icy, watery melodies eventually rain down, but the track remains resolutely eerie. last of all, fabric is another decaying track with subtle, heavily filtered synths and drums all making for a minimal groove that is barely there.

resolutely electronic, ambient and experimental with a techno key, küjuu delivers an exploration jerked and pulled about, meeting distance universes behind melodic songs found in first titles. percussions and harmonic beats makes travelling alongside a tumultuous path and at the same time, melancholic and & deep. sincerity and compositional skill, this ep takes mystery under an overpowering and rough deep bass made listening and elastic, propelling an evocative and ethereal line.

andre kronerts seminal exu ep gets a comprehensive rework from some of the most outstanding on the scene. tense and sinister new cuts from kronert introduce both sides of the release, whilst the label calls upon remixes from berlin mainstays efdemin and ed davenport, as well as hollands finest export juan sanchez, plus stockholm ltd label boss par grindvik alongside fellow swede peder mannerfelt.

retaining the slurred vocal of the original, efdemin layers thundering effects over chasmic bass in his mix of into the zone, which saw heavy rotation last year. meanwhile davenport brings a wild yet streamlined intensity to c.o.d.e.2.
side b sees grindvik team up with mannerfelt to provide a joint interpretation of into the zone, which they manipulate into a peak-time epic, with a soaring melody over hammering toms. finally, juan sanchez channels funk through roll the dice with a twitchy, groove-laden rework.

cafe lanai is a duo in paradise. friendship and music at once led vocalists/producers michael brock and forever to adventure together to pahoa, hawaii. originating with the absorption of tropical sounds and antiquated island imagery, the project made a sweet, sweet double espresso debut with their deep first single lanai. on their debut paradise ep, cafe lanai enlists the spirit of humid rainforests and black sand beaches, imploring you to close your eyes and throw your body to the beat.

archie pelago is a trio from brooklyn. greg plays cello, zack plays saxophone, and dan plays trumpet and works the knobs. the archie guys did one of the very first releases on mister saturday night records, and we’re very happy to have them back – especially with such brilliant tunes. the a side, clammy customer, takes dozens of twists and turns, weaving in vocals by the always excellent gabriel garzon-montano, and the b side, madame suede nightshade, was apparently made with us in mind (check the initials). both sides are tried and tested on our dancefloor and cut at 45rpm for maximum oomph.

jimi tenor has made an instrumental album mysterium magnum with the finnish national jazz orchestra, umo. umo is a professional 16 piece orchestra. specialized in jazz and contemporary rhythm music. throughout it s history umo has had a focus on finnish composers and has performed hundreds of compositions that were made especially for umo.

jah cure is one of the most influential reggae acts today, with hits in the real roots and caribbean pop formats. known for his iconic hooks and street-poet verses, his songs contrast gritty tales of urban struggle with sun-kissed romantic ballads. in the tradition of jamaican reggae, his stories bridge social commentary with uplifting hopefulness. there is playful spirit to his music that has endured the real life challenges of prison, probation and redemption. *the cure* is his seventh album and the fourth for vp records and presents the thoughts, feelings and contradictions of a true reggae artist. anticipation for the album is especially strong in jah cures touring markets where and in support of the release he will tour europe and south america in the summer of 2015. a music video for *made in california* will be serviced to terrestrial and online media outlets to support the album launch internationally.

the a&r edits return with a double-header from hot digits head honcho fingerman. the brighton producer grew up listening to his parents enviable steely dan record collection and for his comeback outing on a&r has retouched the de la soul-sampled classic, peg. a tight circle of djs have road tested this rework over recent times and we ve been inundated with requests for its release. in 1970, new york session drummer bill curtis merged the fatback jazz beat of new orleans into a street funk band and signed his outfit to perception records. over the next decade, they incorporated jazz and disco into their signature funk style, before moving in an r&b direction in the 80s. during this period, american pop success proved elusive, but the group made regular appearances in the uk singles chart, hitting the top twenty three times with (are you ready) do the bus stop , (do the) spanish hustle and i found lovin it s the latter, an anthem on the uk black music scene in 1984, that has been served up here by fingerman, a staple at his casablanca jazz club residency in brighton and now available on wax for the first time.

zadig is back on his own imprint with three nervous and raw tracks. he founds two of them in a * rush* folder, and after a few months playing those two tracks all around the world, he decided to release the package under the title of * lost tape* with an additional jam as a bonus beat. tape 1 is a banging and hypnotic long track, with a frenetic synth and explosives hats. tape 2 is more dirty, with distorted synth and crunchy beats. tape 3 is a bonus jam, made with machine drums only.

cheerful percussions and a nice bassline with a good vocal welcome us for the first track same named as the ep. the remix version is made by enzo siffredi, one of the stylerockets-newbies and a high talented dj and producer based in brighton. the remix version is more ticked and pushing. pitch pink is number 3 and colours up your life with a perfect sound arrangments. elmar strathe pitched a bit more and gave a great remix track to the ep.

with releases on established labels like force inc., cytrax, lo-fi stereo, morris / audio, delay or background, he made his way with his tricky electronic sound. he started his own label, edit that embraces the concepts of reuse and redefinition. components are generated, arranged and fine-tuned. they are stripped apart, processed and rearranged. sophisticated editing techniques enable this process to continue without end. the resulting audio productions become remixes of themselves.
